Well, things are getting a little bit festive around Mushroom FM, and Come by the Hills is no exception! Not only will we be honouring Saint Andrew's Day this week which takes place on November 30, but we will be kicking off the festive fun for the holiday season as well! Now that our holiday countdown has been well and truly launched with votes coming in already, I'll be telling you all about it and playing some seasonal folky favourites to get us all in the voting mood, including some of my own prospective number 1 choices.

Hi everyone and merry Christmas!
Boy, have I got an incredible combination for you! Exercising your hard-won right to vote, holiday music and partying! Yes, our countdown is back for yet another year, due to popular demand. It's tradition, you know.
Mushroom FM runs a really fun tradition every year where we ask listeners to vote for their top 10 holiday songs, and we play the top 100 as tabulated by a fancy algorithm.

After you've enjoyed Come By The Hills with Sara Hillis, tomorrow afternoon from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM, don't touch that dial, device, PC, Mac, smart speaker or tablet and join me for The Early Years, where and when you'll hear the best music from the first half of the Rock and Roll era with nods to other decades and genres.

The "Juke In The Back" focuses on the " soul that came before rock n' roll," the records that inspired Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.
Harry Vann began playing piano in Beulah's Church in Charleston, WV around the age of 10, but thanks to hearing Jay McShann records on the radio, he was bitten by the blues bug while in his teens. After settling in Columbus, Ohio in the late-1940s, Vann was making a name for himself playing in the local clubs. He changed his name to Van Walls, taking Walls as his surname from his step-father.

Following our very popular look at offshore radio, starting this weekend we begin bringing you the original rockumentary. It’s “The History of Rock and Roll”.
Three versions of this series were produced, in 1969, 1978, and 1981. We’ve played you one of the later versions some years ago, but over the next year, we’re bringing you the original from 1969, narrated by Humble Harve Miller.
If you want to go deep into the roots of rock and roll, this is the version of the documentary you want to hear and it’s programming you won’t want to miss.

Understandably, when people think of 22 November 1963, most people immediately think of the assassination of President Kennedy. On the other side of the Atlantic, a band that was still little-known in the United States but which had Britain in the grip of an unprecedented mania, released their much-anticipated second album. It will be 60 years ago on Wednesday 22 November that the “With the Beatles ” album was released.
I’ll be devoting the Mosen Explosion slot to a celebration of the album. Learn about each song, who wrote it, how it was written and recorded.
This week on Deep Dive we enjoy the outstanding talent of American singer Diana Ross. We enjoy sweet summertime, touch me in the morning, and say thank you.
Tune in at 4 PM Eastern Monday, which is 8 AM Tuesday in Eastern Australia. Or at 6 AM Eastern Wednesday, which is 10 PM in Eastern Australia. Dance towards your SmartSpeaker of choice and demand that it play Mushroom FM, and it will happen immediately. They're very obedient like that.
Deep Dive, where we focus on one artist for one hour. Heard exclusively on Mushroom FM, home of the fun guys.

After you've enjoyed Come By The Hills with Sara Hillis who is now all better, and that's a good thing, tomorrow afternoon from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM, don't touch that dial, device, PC, Mac, smart speaker or tablet and join me for The Early Years, where and when you'll hear the best music from the first half of the Rock and Roll era with nods to other decades and genres.
Greetings! I'm back from the land of lost voices with a brand new, and live, episode of Come by the Hills this week, in which there will be songs about coming, songs about going, songs about trees and flowers, and one song about the road not taken. I'll also have a very special request to fulfill, and right near the beginning of the show, I'm going to play a really cool bit from Joni Mitchell's recent live album which we played a few weeks ago, but which I just think is an amazing bit of communal performance. In fact, I'm rather obsessed with it at the moment.
