The Juke In The Back” focuses on the “soul that came before rock n’ roll,” the records that inspired Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.

Hear some of the new Sgt Pepper Mixes early, on today's Richter Scale

On 26 May, The Beatles will be releasing new mixes of their iconic Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. It's one of the most iconic, influential albums of the 20th century, so understandably, there is huge excitement about the new mixes.

Today on the Richter Scale, we've got our hands on some of those mixes, and we're going to play them for you, almost a month ahead of their official release. A couple are from the remixed official album, others are out-takes that will be released as part of the deluxe edition.

One of the best oldies shows around, Treasure Island Oldies, comes to Mushroom FM

In 1997, a talented broadcaster with an encyclopedic knowledge of oldies music had a bold idea. He decided to start an oldies show that would be available on the Internet. If you were listening to streaming radio back then, you'll remember the very grainy, digital sound. But people listened anyway, because the show was that good.

Almost exactly 20 years to the day that the first show aired, we're proud to announce that Treasure Island Oldies with Michael Godin comes to the home of the fun guys.

Thursday night on A Cuppa At The Mosens, accessibility, the carrot and the stick

Jonathan and Bonnie Mosen are talking accessibility this week on A Cuppa at the Mosens, Mushroom FM’s live global call-in show looking at issues from a blindness perspective.

Haven’t we come a long way in a short time? The difference that accessible technology has made in our lives over the last 25 years is staggering.

A birthday present begins tonight on The Early Years on Mushroom FM

When you hear the dying strains of Van Halen's Happy Trails signalling the end of The birthday edition of the Mosen Explosion, don't touch your PC, your mobile device or your internet radio and join me in The Early Years because the birthday celebration continues.
Hello, I'm Steve Cutway. Before talking about tonight's show, I'd like to thank Mushroom FM fun guy, Bruce Toews, for filling in during my two week absence. I will be doing the same thing for him on Funny Fridays in May.

It's Another Episode of Come By The Hills!

I forgot to blog last week, but now that there's a lovely description of Come By The Hills in the schedule, I think I need to be extra vigilant from now on.

We've got an interesting song in "Celtic Covers" this week which, though often thought of as traditional, was written in the 20th century and whose tune has an interesting classical connection! I picked it at random because I had two versions of the song, and then I googled it and all this interesting information came out. I love it when that happens.

Rockin' Steady On Saturday, Earth Day.

Steve from Ohio joins the Snowman during the first hour tonight, and the focus is on happy, happenin' music from the 60's and 70's, especially selected to meet the approval of the hosts. You will like it, because it will be all good stuff. . On this show, we never say, anything goes. We dont' provide something for everybody. We provide the stuff we like best, and believe that people who like our music, will like our show too.

You're invited to an exploding party

Ah it’s a strange old thing, time. Even though it’s the 23rd of April at 2 Pm Eastern time, 7 PM in the UK, when Mushroom FM management gets so desperate for content that the Mosen Explosion comes on, it will in fact be the 24th of April in New Zealand.

It just so happens that the 24th of April will be exactly one year since my last birthday, so I guess that means it’s time for another one. And I couldn’t think of anything better to do than to get up very early on my birthday so I can have an on-air party with you in attendance.

Looking as good as we sound. Announcing our new logo

We love it when all the feedback comes in about how good Mushroom FM is sounding these days. Thank you.

And today, we're unveiling a shiny new logo that's worthy of our output.

Whenever we tweet and post to Facebook, and whenever you visit our website, you'll be greeted by our new logo, a stylish looking Mushroom FM with the two o's in Mushroom looking like button mushrooms. Yum!

Thanks to Steve, the sometimes sidekick for the Snowman, for lending his professional expertise.

French Composers continue to live on Viva

Hello all-
I hope you can join me on Sunday morning at 8am Eastern time or Tuesday at 8pm local time in New Zealand.
This week on Viva, the classical music show, we continue a journey begun last week with the work of Claude Debussy. French composers continue to live with recordings by Poulenc, Faure and Satie. As well as one big work by Debussy, Sonata for flute, viola and harp.

See you then.
