Hello! Sara Hillis here to let you know about this week's episode of Come by the Hills, the Folk and Celtic music show on Mushroom FM! I've decided, in honour of the season, to play a few holiday selections live on air. I had a request a month or so ago to play my harp on the show, so I've decided to fulfill that request. I haven't done anything like this since 2020 when everyone was doing virtual concerts, so I hope you'll join me. I will of course have recorded music on the show as well.
After you've enjoyed Decades in HD with PJ Noce tomorrow afternoon from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM, don't touch that dial, device, PC, Mac, smart speaker or tablet and join me for The Early Years, where and when you'll hear the best music from the first quarter century of Rock with occasional nods to other decades and genres.
The top 100 of 1964 concludes this week. I'll pick up the countdown at #20 and continue to #1. What will it be? It may not surprise you.
First, we'd like to thank those who have already voted in this year's Mushroom FM Holiday Countdown! You're amazing! However, it seems that our vote-validating elves are suffering from a lack of structure and productivity at work. They are taking entirely too many cocoa and candy cane breaks, and may be in danger of quiet quitting, (not to mention getting into the mulled wine and mince pies,) if we're not careful. The good news is that you can help them to fulfill their potential and live their dream. How?

The "Juke In The Back" focuses on the " soul that came before rock n' roll," the records that inspired Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.
Jimmy Liggins didn't have the chart success or popularity of his older brother Joe Liggins, but he did have a killer band, a raw sound and quite possibly the "first rock n' roll record."
Ah, distinctly I remember,
It was in the bleak December,
When each separate dying ember
Wrought its ghost upon the floor,
Then I heard the sound of singing,
And in the distance, sleigh bells ringing,
And my Mastodon was pinging
With cracker jokes and puns galore.
'Twas the Mushroom Christmas Countdown
Back again for one year more,
Back for twenty-twenty-four.

On Wednesday December 4, we’re celebrating 60 years since the release of Beatles for sale, the Beatles’ fourth studio album. The Mosen Explosion will feature every track from the album along with interesting anecdotes about the stories behind the songs and how they were recorded. We’ll also feature some other material that was recorded during these sessions but didn’t end up on the album, including one very famous Beatles single with an intro everyone recognizes the moment it starts.
This week on Deep Dive we enjoy the outstanding talents of American Girl Band the Pointer Sisters. We get excited, learn that he's so shy, and enjoy a lover with a slow hand.
Tune in at 4 PM Eastern Monday, which is 8 AM Tuesday in Eastern Australia. Or at 6 AM Wednesday, which is 10 PM in Eastern Australia. It's easy! Just tell that SmartSpeaker of yours to play Mushroom FM, and you will be there in a jiffy, whatever measure of time that is.
