For many of us, radio plays an important part in our lives at this time of year. For those fortunate to be surrounded by those near and ear to us, radio can provide an entertaining soundtrack to the festivities. For those on their own, radio can provide companionship and the comfort of a familiar voice.

'Tis the week before Christmas, and all through the house
There's no one but me here, my dog and my spouse.
But fortunately I have something to do,
To play great folk music on Mushroom for you.

WE'll have songs of the winter and songs of good cheer,
And perhaps one or two that will give you a tear,
So join me for music to cure all your ills
With another edition of Come by the Hills.

Voting is closing at 11:59 PM Eastern time tonight for our holiday countdown. Every year, we get frantic messages from a listener or two who forgot to vote and really really really wants to. Unfortunately, we can't make exceptions. Once the votes are closed, they are closed. The reason for this is that once listeners have built the chart, work begins immediately on putting the countdown together, so it's ready to go live at 9 AM Eastern this Sunday.
