It's time for the last of the summer kombucha, on The Mosen Explosion

Much as I complain about daylight saving time causing holes in the fabric of the space/time continuum, it’s kind of cool that during a relaxed New Zealand summer, the difference between New Zealand on daylight time and the US on standard time means that I do the Mosen
Explosion at 8 AM on a Monday morning. Positively civilised, I tell you, especially during my month of relaxation over Christmas.

Phone in with your take on self-driving cars, on A Cuppa at the Mosens

If the Beatles had been writing today, Paul might have been inspired to write a song called “Baby, your car can drive you”. But perhaps it doesn’t have the same ring to it…

As blind people, we’ve all experienced the frustration of access to cost-effective transportation. How many times have you mumbled under your breath that if you could only just get in your car and go somewhere, your life would be so much better?

on The Mosen Explosion, it's Monday Over Here

Our official time on Mushroom FM is Eastern US time, so we always say that the Mosen Explosion airs at 2 PM Eastern on Sunday, because it does.

But that means that at this time of year, it’s 8 AM on a Monday in New Zealand. And even at other times of the year, it’s still Monday in New Zealand. Incredible!

The Mosen Explosion celebrates the great recovery

There I was, minding my own business working on the computer, when a series of unforeseen events caused a massive crash. Now there is never a good time for a computer crash to happen, but I think you would agree with me that one of the worst times for a crash to happen is 90 minutes before a show that a whole lot of people were going to tune into.

A Mosen Explosion Listener? Join our new Mosen Explosion Facebook group

From the “I must get around to this sometime” department, I’m pleased to let you know that The Mosen Explosion now has a Facebook group.

The Mosen Explosion has been going for a very long time, so it’s understandable that many of our listeners have gotten to know each other through the show.

Sometimes it’s fun to continue a discussion when the show is over. Perhaps you have ideas that we might consider for a future show. Maybe you have memories of some music we played or some event we talked about.

The Mosen Explosion, after the big game

As I write this wee missive, there’s a break in the big game that’s going on in the world this weekend. New Zealand is playing Australia in a cricket match that will decide the Chappell Hadley trophy. Two fiercely competitive nations who have fought in wars together as mates, but are mighty sporting adversaries in the beautiful game of cricket. By the time the Mosen Explosion airs, we’ll know who takes the trophy. Oh, be still my heart! Heart, be still!

Announcing Mushroom FM's new global call-in show, a Cuppa at the Mosens

This Thursday at 9 PM Eastern, Mushroom FM launches our new global call-in show, A Cuppa at the Mosens, hosted by Jonathan and Bonnie. This message tells you a bit about the show and what led up to it, as well as looking ahead to what you can expect on the first edition.

The Smorgasbord with Jonathan Mosen is back for 2017

My holidays are over and I’m back in the saddle again, re-energised and looking forward to another exciting year ahead.

The Smorgasbord is back with you on Mushroom FM every week day at 3 AM Eastern, 8 AM UK.

What is a smorgasbord, I hear you cry? Well, it’s really a fancy word for buffet. When you visit a smorgasbord, there’s usually a wide selection of food from which to choose. On Mushroom FM’s smorgasbord, I serve up plenty of tasty mushroom morsels from the 1950s through to the 1980s. It’s an eclectic mix of music with a healthy helping of friendly chat.

The Mosen Explosion brings cold fun in the summer time

Isn’t it funny how language keeps evolving? Recently in new Zealand, they’ve started talking about this weather phenomenon known as a “weather bomb”.

A Mosen Explosion Promotional Announcement, inspired by Sara Hillis

Yesterday I was revelling in my summer break, as you do, listening to the cricket and enjoying being totally immersed in books the rest of the time, when my phone went Ding! IN a languid manner befitting this time of year, I somewhat listlessly reached for my phone to investigate.
