Lucky Millinder this week on The Juke In The Back!

The Juke In The Back” focuses on the “soul that came before rock n’ roll,” the records that inspired Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.

This coming Sunday on Come by the Hills, Big Changes!

usually I don't do my promo post for Come by the Hills until later in the week, but I'm too excited to wait this time!

I love it when things come together in such a way that a show sort of arrives fully formed almost before I've even begun planning it. This is what happened just recently.

The “5” Royales this week on The Juke In The Back!

The Juke In The Back” focuses on the “soul that came before rock n’ roll,” the records that inspired Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.
This week, the “Juke In The Back” features a rhythm & blues vocal group from Winston-Salem, NC that not only influenced James Brown, but quite possibly the entire soul movement of the late ’50s into the 1960s; The “5” Royales.

"Seconds" continues this week on The Early Years!

After you've enjoyed The Mosen Explosion, don't touch that device and join me for The Early Years where you'll enjoy the best music from Rock and Roll's Golden Age (its first quarter century) with an occasional nod to other decades and genres.
This week, I will continue my listener-suggested theme begun In hour 2 last week, "Seconds". If an artist's first song reached #1, what did their second song do? As you'll hear, some did well and others didn't. I'll pick up the theme in late 1952 where I lefft off last week and continue to early 1958.

The time changes are over for a while and The Mosen Explosion's made it to the other side

One very positive thing about this current configuration of global time differences is that I get to sleep in, relatively speaking, on a New Zealand Sunday morning! The Mosen Explosion now begins at a quite respectable 8 AM on Sunday morning in New Zealand, that’s still Saturday at 2 PM Eastern, 7 PM in the UK.

On the show this week, there’s the usual technology chatter including a busy week for Microsoft, a fix for the MFI hearing aid issue with VoiceOver and a call to improve LinkedIn’s interface in iOS.

This Week on Come by the Hills, We're Remembering Remembrance Day 2018!

Yes, once again, I have an encore presentation of MushroomFM's premier Celtic music show for you. it's three hours of great Celtic and Folk music with a Remembrance Day focus that was originally aired on November 11, 2018. We'll hear songs honouring fallen soldiers and telling stories from both World Wars, and we'll explore more modern attitudes toward this day through music as well.

So join me for this very special encore presentation, lest we forget.
