For this week's show, I need your help! The theme is "Say What?!" That means I'm going to feature songs you, or someone you know, misunderstood in some way. It could be a misunderstanding of the lyrics, but it could also be a complete misunderstanding of the message of the song itself. If you have a song that fits this theme, please let me know as soon as possible. You can email me

Greetings! Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow-Canadians! Due to holiday-related plans, I am proud to present an encore of Come by the Hills from October 22, 2022! Note that there will be a couple of promos which do not reflect Mushroom FM's current schedule, but beyond that, the music will be just as good as ever. So again, happy Canadian Thanksgiving, and happy Columbus Day for those in the US! I'll talk to you again next week.

After you've enjoyed Come By The Hills with Sara Hillis, tomorrow afternoon from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM, don't touch that dial, device, PC, Mac, smart speaker or tablet and join me for The Early Years, now in its 8th year, where and when you'll hear the best music from the first half of the Rock and Roll era with nods to other decades and genres.

From this Saturday at 12am Eastern, that’s 5pm Saturday in NZ, 3pm in Sydney and 5am in the UK, and repeated every four hours throughout the day, it’s the described movies Dawn of the Dead from 1978 and Candyman from 1992.
Dawn of the Dead is a 1978 zombie horror film written, directed, and edited by George A. Romero, and produced by Richard P. Rubinstein.

Hi All.

It's nice to be back after all the excitement of the honeymoon. Thanks to Sarah for filling in while I was off getting married.

this week on the show, apart from the post-wedding debrief, I'm joined by my good mate Steve Sparrow to chat about, and play some songs from his new album entitled Now and Forever.

We've played a few songs on the show already as a sneak preview but now that the album is available we thought it would be good to catch up with Steve and hear some of the stories behind the songs on the album.

Our look at offshore radio continues this weekend. Inspired by the British offshore stations, and facing a similar government radio monopoly, a group of young New Zealanders put to sea in a ship called the Tiri. The year was 1966, the station was Radio Hauraki, and the end of its time at sea was very different from the experience of the British pirates.

Join me for part 1 of Born Free, the Radio Hauraki offshore years, this Sunday at 2 PM Eastern, repeated at 11 PM Eastern. Check the Mushroom Fm schedule to find out when that is where you are.

The "Juke In The Back" focuses on the " soul that came before rock n' roll," the records that inspired Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.
This week, for the 700th episode of "Juke In The Back," Matt The Cat digs deep into the racks n' stacks o' shellac to bring you a solid hour on that catch phrase craze and cultural phenomenon, "Open The Door, Richard!"

This week on Deep Dive we enjoy the talents of well-known Australian rock band Cold Chissel. We visit Bow River, drink cheap wine and remember Khe Sanh.

Tune in at 4 PM Eastern Monday, which is 7 AM Tuesday in Eastern Australia, or at least the three States which have moved to daylight saving time. Or at 6 AM Eastern Wednesday, which is 9 PM Wednesday in Eastern Australia. Simply ask that SmartSpeaker of yours to play Mushroom FM. It is smart for a reason and will whisk you their momentarily.

It's another fabulous Folkish feast on Come by the Hills this week, as I present songs about brothers, sisters, boys and girls, as well as many other interesting musical delights, including an unfortunate miscommunication about how to deal with a seemingly aggressive dog. It'll be three hours of live radio fun, so I hope you'll join me!
