Hello there. Sara Hillis here to tell you about tonight's edition of Come by the Hills, Mushroom FM's Folk and Celtic music show. Of course we'll be playing three hours of great Folk music as usual, but we will focus in on the upcoming celebration of Remembrance Day, which we observe in Canada on November 11. Others celebrate on the Sunday nearest to that date, so we'll be playing songs paying tribute to those who fought and died in previous wars, and perhaps some songs which question the need for war as well. Who knows?

Yes, the long-awaited first volume of Joni Mitchell's archival material has been released, and I have it! Spanning the years 1963-1967, it covers her beginnings as a Folk musician among other Folk musicians as well as her development as the amazing song-writer we've come to know over the years. If you love early Joni, you'll love this boxed set! I'll be featuring it this week and focusing in on the massive amount of live material included here, and that won't even scratch the surface!

Seriously, thanks so much to Gary G. for stepping in at the last minute yesterday to cover Sara Smiles! He'll be with you again today as I will be busy getting things sorted at the apartment after the pest treatment we had. We decided to stay away for the night just to be safe for us and the dog, and will be having fun today getting everything put back or at least moved so we ourselves can move around more freely.

All being well, I should be back with you for Wednesday's show, but in the meantime, Gary will keep you company.

This is just to let you know that Sara Smiles will not be heard on Monday. Life is a little chaotic just now around this house, and tomorrow promises to be very busy. I hope to return as usual on Tuesday, but will keep you posted as things progress. We are attempting to get rid of a roach infestation in our apartment, and it's going to involve some people coming with very serious chemicals which will require us to be out of the place while they do their thing.

No, it's not a Celtic version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, it's a rerun of last year's Hallowe'en special. This was not what I intended to do this week, but we are forced out of our comfort zone here on the seventh floor by a domestic crisis of epic proportions. Yes, we have roaches, and we have to basically dismantle our entire lives today in preparation for when the bug people come tomorrow, and as I have no idea how long this dismantling and cleaning will take, I thought I'd play it safe and offer you last year's folky thrills and chills from October 27, 2019.

This is in order to pay tribute to Tom Dekker, a former Fun Guy and a well-loved friend of many listeners to this show. He passed away on October 10 and will be missed by many. He was a lover of music of all kinds, and was a great supporter and encourager of me as a musician and of Come by the Hills as well. He was a great supporter of pretty much everyone who knew him.

I decided that I want to have a leisurely dinner with my husband, likely with a bit of imbibing, due to the fact that we can't have our usual Thanksgiving celebrations with the family due to Covid.
