Miss the countdown? We're counting them all over again on Christmas day

On 16 December, we got together in classic Mushroom FM tradition, counted down the top 100 holiday songs as voted for by the Mushroom Crowd in 2018, and had a holly jolly fun time doing it.

Christmas Day on Mushroom Escape

As you may or may not know, Mushroom FM has a sister station, which we proudly call Mushroom Escape. This station features radio drama and comedy, old and new. Of course, the Fun Guys at Mushroom FM are into the Christmas spirit this year as always, but Mushroom Escape has some great Christmas programming for you too. We have eight hours of material, which will play three times throughout the day. Following is a breakdown of what you can expect (all times Eastern North American time):

It's the almost Christmas edition of The Early Years!

Join me for The Early Years where you'll enjoy the best variety of music from Rock and Roll's Golden Age (its first quarter century) with an occasional nod to other decades including music from before the rock era.
It's an all-Christmas show this week paying homage to its many fascets from the serious to the absurd. To know more, you'll just have to stay tuned to Mushroom FM after The Mosen Explosion.

The Annual Christmas Novelty Special is Here Again!

It's one of many traditions around here at Mushroom FM: Bruce Toews and his Christmas Novelty Special. This year, the special is bigger and better than ever, with all your favorites plus a few new songs that Bruce hasn't played before. What kind of awful things have happened to Santa as he's been trying to make his rounds? What do Yogi Yorgessen, Tom Lehrer, Ray Stevens, and Cledus T. Judd have to say on the subject of the season? All these questions and many more will be dealt with, if not actually answered, on this year's Christmas special.

'Tis the Night before the Night before Christmas Celtic-style, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Yes, it's finally come round at last, that season of holly, ivy, mistletoe, merriment, and music of course! So this week, we've got Christmas tunes gallore on Come by the Hills. We've got salutes to some of my favourite folkish festive albums and artists, some Christmas comedy, and our annual reading of "A Child's Christmas in Wales" by Dylan Thomas. We've got carols, snow, and the all-important wassailing of the figgy duff. And no, I don't mean the Newfoundland folk-rock band either.

Cool Yule: R&B Christmas, part 2 this week on The Juke In The Back!

The Juke In The Back” focuses on the “soul that came before rock n’ roll,” the records that inspired Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.

Mushroom FM's New Morning Man one day each year!

Wake up with The Early Years where you'll enjoy the best variety of music from Rock and Roll's Golden Age (its first quarter century) with an occasional nod to other decades including music from before the rock era.
This is the one day each year that I get to produce a special hour for my Wednesday morning audience because my first hour Sunday night was pre-empted by the final hour of the Mushroom FM annual Christmas Countdown.

Our Christmas Cast-offs show plays songs that didn't get enough votes to make the top 100

Last Sunday, we played the top 100 holiday songs as voted for by the Mushroom Crowd. But listeners voted for 312 songs in total.

As has become our tradition over the last few years, join me, Jonathan Mosen, as we play four hours of Christmas cast-offs, a few of the 212 songs that people voted for, but not in large enough numbers to make the main chart.

It first airs in the Mosen Explosion replay slot, Tuesday at 5 AM Eastern time, 10 AM in the UK. If that’s stupid o’clock for you, we’ll play it again on Wednesday afternoon between 4 and 8 PM Eastern time.

It's A Christmas Gift For You tonight on The Early Years!

Join me for The Early Years where you'll enjoy the best variety of music from Rock and Roll's Golden Age (its first quarter century) with an occasional nod to other decades including music from before the rock era.

Come one, come all, to our 2018 holiday party at 9 AM Eastern on Sunday

One of our favourite traditions that has been established in recent years is the Mushroom FM Christmas party.

Sure, we get together to play the top 100 songs as voted for by our wonderful listeners, and hopefully, you cast your vote when voting was open. But it’s also about just getting together, enjoying some festive tunes and having a few laughs in good company.
