I hope to bring it to you live, but it depends on the rather stormy weather today. It may make more sense to do a voice-tracked show for you this week, but hey. Anyway, regardless of how it's coming to you, I promise you a new show today, filled with great Folk music with a Celtic sound!

King Records, Part 9: Federal Records, Part 1: 1951-54 this week on The Juke In The Back!

The Juke In The Back” focuses on the “soul that came before rock n’ roll,” the records that inspired Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.
This week, it’s part 9 of a multi-part feature on the great King Record Label, out of Cincinnati. Syd Nathan, who began putting out records under the King logo in 1943, developed King as a hillbilly music label. After seeing the sales potential in the Rhythm & Blues market, Nathan launched the Queen Records subsidiary in 1945, but folded it into King in 1947 and transferred his R&B acts over.
