Among other lovely holiday gifts, I was also given an unlovely one--that is, a cold. While it is on the wane, my voice is still not quite ready for the demands of a three-hour live broadcast in the later part of the evening. So, while I continue to fight these symptoms, I thought we'd look back at our Sandy Denny show. it is appropriate for this week, as her birthday is on January 6. IN fact, I produced the show in June due to a mistaken reading of that date. So, here's my chance to rectify the mistake.

The Juke In The Back” focuses on the “soul that came before rock n’ roll,” the records that inspired Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.

join me for The Early Years where you'll hear the best music from Rock and Roll's Golden Age (its first quarter century) with an occasional nod to other decades and genres.
This week, it's part 8 of my mammoth, multi-part, listener-suggested theme begun Nov. 2, 2019, "Seconds" (the songs not the time interval). If an artist's first song reached #1, what did their second song do? As you'll hear, some did well and others didn't and you may hear some songs you haven't heard in a long time if ever, and at least one you probably won't want to hear ever again!

From this Saturday at 2am Eastern, that’s 8pm Saturday in NZ, 6pm in Sydney and 7am in the UK, and repeated every four hours throughout the day , it’s the described movie Mamma Mia from 2008.

We’re almost there! 2020 will be the final year of this century’s second decade, and we’re seeing in the new year in style in our traditional Mosen Explosion new year special. It’s coming live from New Zealand, which means we get to try 2020 on for size before it gets to the rest of the world.

Yes, it's still the holiday season, so I thought I'd give you the gift of one more chance to listen to the Christmas edition of Mushroom FM's premier Celtic music show! We've got songs, stories, and of course a whole lot of fun. So, tune in tonight at 8:00 PM Eastern, or catch the replay on Friday at 4:00 AM Eastern. The archive will also be properly updated in a couple of days, and you can find it at: http://www.mushroomfm.com/sarahillis. Merry Christmas again, and I wish you all the best as we approach 2020!

Like Snow White FM, The Early Years doesn't take a break either, even if there are those who wish it would. That's because The Early Years precedes Snow White FM and Snow White FM follows The Early Years. Cool that.
Syntactically, it's the end of the decade even though the Common Era started in year 1 not year 0. 60 years ago, the fifties decade was becoming the sixties decade even though the purists dispute that; just like they believe that 2020 is the end of a decade rather than the beginning of one.

In the first hour of SnowWhiteFM this week, we'll find out just who actually had a white christmas this year, and it wasn't you. We'll hear about the highway patrol officer who could run 60 miles per hour, and hear all the stupid holidays that you might otherwise have missed. That plus a great lineup of tunes from the late 60's.
Hour 2 features a rundown of the current weather around the nation, a look at this day in history, and a fun trip into the early 70's. And, we'll have coffee with Ed Potter.
And hour 3 is just some of the best darned music on the planet.
