It's almost time for another episode of Come by the Hills, Mushroom FM's Folk and Celtic music show, and today, I've got something rather special in honour of a well-beloved and still-grieved friend who passed away very suddenly six years ago today. Thanks to the miracle of the internet, I actually have a bit of her voice to play for you, and I'll also be playing some of her favourite Folk songs in the course of the show. Her name is Shannon, and if you're a regular listener, you'll know I reference her a lot.

Our popular series about offshore radio continues this weekend in our rockumentary slot.
Over the last couple of weeks, we've told the turbulent story of Radio England and Britain Radio, stations with wealthy backers, big budgets, and initially, programming entirely unsuitable for the audiences they were trying to serve, particularly where Radio England was concerned.
As we heard last week, Britain Radio was rebranded to Radio 355 and was having better success. However, due to the imminent passage of the Marine Offenses Bill, Radio 355 closed at the end of 5 August 1967.

The "Juke In The Back" focuses on the " soul that came before rock n' roll," the records that inspired Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.
This week on Deep Dive we listen to the talents of American band Chicago. We don't want to live without your love, check the time at 25 or six to four, and hear of a hard habit to break.
Tune in at 4 PM Eastern MONDAY, which is 6 AM Tuesday in Eastern Australia. Or at 6 AM Wednesday Eastern, which is 8 PM in Eastern Australia. Just coax that SmartSpeaker of yours to play Mushroom FM, and if it's really smart it will stay locked on there forever.
Deep Dive, focusing on one artist for one hour, is heard exclusively on Mushroom FM, home of the fun guys.

They just don't make 'em like they used to! You know the songs I'm talking about--those songs with nonsense words that are used in the refrain, or to help create the rhythm of the song, or as sound effects to enhance the topic being sung about. These are the songs on the playlist for The Song Remembers When this Sunday from 4-6 pm Eastern, or Thursday from 5-7 am Eastern. For the most part, these songs are cheery and should put you in a great mood, while bringing back memories of days gone by.
Hello! Sara Hillis here to let you know about what's coming up this week in just a few short hours on Come by the Hills, Mushroom FM's Folk and Celtic music show! Today, as well as our usual mix of fun and interesting Folkish favourites, I will be paying tribute throughout the show to Donald McGeoch, a Brantford Ontario institution and a force to be reckoned with in the Folk scene there and roundabout. I first encountered his music on a lovely radio show on the CBC, the kind of show where people could send in tapes of artists they really liked and the presentor would play them.
