From this Saturday at 12am Eastern, that’s 5pm Saturday in NZ, 3pm in Sydney and 5am in the UK, and repeated every four hours throughout the day, it’s
The described movies Night of the Living Dead from 1968, Halloween from 1978, and Pac’s Scary Halloween from 2016.
When released in 1966, the Revolver album broke new ground. Rather than just going into the studio to record performances, the Beatles viewed the studio as a canvas with which they could paint musical pictures impossible to make on-stage. They challenged their producer and engineers to create new sounds and find better ways of capturing their work. As it turned out, the Beatles days as a live band were over. Like sponges, they were soaking up musical and cultural influences.
The Juke In The Back” focuses on the “soul that came before rock n’ roll,” the records that inspired Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.
Thanks to a bit of VPN trickery behind the scenes, we have been able to work around our connectivity issues for now and normal service is back. This technique is subject to connectivity issues, but for now it is solid and we are hoping it will see us through until the connectivity issues are resolved.
Apologies for the disruption and thanks to Sara for broadcasting live at short notice with some delightful temporary programming.
At present, there is an Internet connectivity issue that is making the Mushroom Fm stream unlistenable. Mushroom Escape is unaffected.
Unfortunately this is one of those random issues where one of the links in the chain between our studio in New Zealand and our server a long way away is affected, and it is completely out of our control. All our servers and equipment are working normally, but a random connection hub in the chain is not.
We're really sorry about the disruption, and we hope it is resolved very soon.
This week on Deep Dive we hear the programme we were supposed to hear last week. We smell the rose, are the wind beneath your wings and refuse to be a beast of burden.
Tune in at 4 PM Eastern Monday, which is 7 AM Tuesday in Eastern Australia. Or at 6 AM Wednesday, which is 9 PM in Eastern Australia. Simply tell your SmartSpeaker to play Mushroom FM and you will be there.
Deep Dive, where we focus on one artist for one hour. And you can hear it on Mushroom FM, home of the fun guys.

Hello! Sara Hillis here to tell you about this week's fast approaching edition of Come by the Hills, Mushroom FM's Folk and Celtic music show. Along with our usual mix of interesting music which spans many decades and continents, I'm going to be featuring some of the work of Folk Singer and musician Mary McCaslin, who passed away this week. To be completely honest, I did not know that I had ever heard her music before today, but as it turns out, one of my very favourite songs was written by her.
After you've enjoyed Come By The Hills with Sara Hillis, tomorrow afternoon from 02:00 to 05:00, don't touch that dial, device, PC, Mac or smart speaker and join me for The Early Years, where and when you'll hear the best music from Rock and Roll's Golden Age (its first quarter century) with an occasional nod to other decades and genres.
This week, I'll conclude the countdown of the top 100 of 1962 as tabulated by Billboard Magazine. Last week, I got from #43 to #13 and this week, I'll get from #13 to #1 and then play some songs that did not make the top 100 of 1962.
