Later today, we're off to the parade. You can join us!

Two weeks ago today, New Zealand yelled with delight and sighed with relief, as we finally won the America's Cup back. This yachting trophy is the oldest prize in world sport, dating back to 1851.

Now New Zealanders are turning out all over the country to see the team and the Cup.

We love a good America's Cup victory parade, and a challenging technical task. So we're combining them, as Mushroom FM seeks, for the first time, to bring you live coverage of an outdoor event, streaming to our servers directly from an iPhone over 4G.

Join Jonathan, Bonnie and some of the bananas as we attempt a live outside broadcast from the heart of the parade in New Zealand's capital, celebrating the victory of Team New Zealand in the America's Cup. In glorious stereo, you'll hear the bands, the crowds and the speeches, with plenty of audio description.

We expect the broadcasting to begin around about 8 PM Eastern time, that's 12 PM New Zealand time. Note that a couple of things might prevent this event from happening. One is the weather, which at this point seems unlikely. The other is that our cellular network is congested with everyone trying to upload video content, as a big crowd is expected.

Still, Jonathan misses those pioneering Internet radio days, so the uncertainty of whether it will all work out is part of the magic.

Join us and see, at around 8 PM Eastern time, 12 PM in NZ, on Mushroom FM.

And Team NZ, we are so, so proud of you!
