Sara Hillis here to let you know how happy I am to have the honour of launching Mushroom FM on its annual sleigh ride of Christmas goodies this year! Yes, it's Christmas with The Carpenters and it's back for another year! So get out the hot cocoa and curl up by the fire and have some holiday cheer on me!

As it is now officially December, we're getting out the musical advent calendar and opening a few squares to kick off the holiday season in good earnest! And yes, being earnest is extremely important.

Hello, hello! Sara Hillis here to tell you about this week's episode of Come by the Hills, Mushroom FM's Folk and Celtic music show! As Saint Andrew's Day is coming up on November 30, and as Saint Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland, it made sense to me to play a relatively all-Scottish show for this week. Along with all the great Scottish music in general, I'm including a specific group of song-pairs with the same melody but with re-purposed lyrics.

Hello! Sara Hillis here to tell you about this week's episode of Come by the Hills, the Folk and Celtic music show here on Mushroom FM! I've got a great mix of music for you from artists such as The High Kings and Stan Rogers, as well as a new bit of Me Music. I've got a couple of strange question-and-answer ballads for us to puzzle over, and we'll hear a great song by Eric Bogle about the power of the past. All in all, it is sure to be a great three hours!

Finally, the waiting is over! Volume 2 of the Joni Mitchell Archives has now been released, and as we did last year on Come by the Hills with Volume 1, we'll be dipping into this five-disk collection of live rarities, studio recordings and other bits and pieces which covers the years 1968-1971. We'll go to Le Hibou Coffeehouse in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on March 19, 1968, for a set recorded by none other than Jimi Hendrix himself, in an effort to test out his new reel-to-reel tape recorder.

Hello! Sara Hillis here to announce another blast from the Come by the Hills past! This time, it's the Remembrance Day episode originally aired on Sunday, November 8, 2020. This means that you'll have some outdated promos and such, but I was listening to it earlier in the week and thought: why re-invent the wheel? I found it a really good episode, and I hope you will too, even if it is an encore presentation.

Sara Hillis here with some haunting news! Yes, I'm afraid that you're regularly-scheduled Folk and Celtic music show has been taken over this week by uncanny creatures, scary tales and atmospheric selections guaranteed to put you in a Hallowe'en mood. Perhaps fittingly, the show isn't live this week, but neither is it undead. So, enjoy the frightening fun, and I'll be back live with you next week I'm sure.
