Announcing Mushroom FM's new global call-in show, a Cuppa at the Mosens

This Thursday at 9 PM Eastern, Mushroom FM launches our new global call-in show, A Cuppa at the Mosens, hosted by Jonathan and Bonnie. This message tells you a bit about the show and what led up to it, as well as looking ahead to what you can expect on the first edition.

As you know, Bonnie hosts a show every week night now on Mushroom FM, playing the 80s music she loves. She therefore began to feel that she wanted to try something different from the show that started it all, BonAir. Bonnie loves a good conversation, so for some time we’ve been working towards a global call-in show. A Cuppa at the Mosens is the result.

What does the name mean? In New Zealand, when you’re invited over for a cuppa, it’s usually a cup of tea, sometimes maybe a cup of coffee, and plenty of good conversation. That’s what we’re aiming for with this show. Sometimes the conversation will be light-hearted, at other times we tackle issues that may be contentious.

A long time in the planning, we’ve upgraded the studio at Mosen Towers to optimise the audio for this show, and we’ve also given considerable thought to making it as easy as possible to participate.

We have phone numbers in many parts of the world, as well as an accessible and very high quality way to phone in using your computer if you have access to either the Firefox or Chrome web browsers. In short, having your say is easy. That’s important, because on a call-in show, we really do need you to call in for it to be viable.

So what do we have for you on the first edition? Well, everyone’s been talking about the inauguration, so we will be too. What kind of president do you think Donald Trump will be, and in particular, what might it mean for advancing the blindness-specific causes many of us care about? And what can be done about the deteriorating quality of political discourse, particularly in the US? Have we permanently lost the ability for many people to see someone else’s point of view?

We know also that many of you will simply want to kick the tyres and say hello on this first edition of the show, and that’s fine too. We’d love to hear from you.

A Cuppa at the Mosens is heard live on Mushroom FM every Thursday at 9 PM Eastern time. If that’s a bad time for you, you can catch it on the replay at 4 AM Eastern on Mondays.

To find out about all the ways you can participate, and perhaps give our high quality web-based calling a test, head on over to the info page for the show.
