This Saturday at 2 PM North American Eastern time, 7 PM in the UK, 8 PM in Ukraine, 1800 UTC, which equates to Sunday at 6 AM in New Zealand, 4 AM Eastern Australia time, Mushroom FM will be broadcasting We’re with U, a benefit concert for blind people still in Ukraine and those who are now refugees.
Over more than 10 hours, you’ll hear in excess of 110 blind or low vision performing artists, and some of our sighted allies. It is a true variety concert, with many musical styles represented, even a little poetry. Crank up your best speakers, stock up with the snacks and beverages, maybe invite a friend or two, and enjoy this historic, extraordinary event which will be broadcast on around 20 Internet radio stations serving the blind community.
We will entertain you, but there is a serious side to this. Blind Ukrainians need our help. The need is urgent, and dire. To describe that need, throughout the event you will hear several accounts from blind Ukrainians and people from organisations assisting them.
Blind performing artists have given generously of their considerable talent, now we all ask you to please give what financial support you can during this radiothon event. Every cent raised goes to the World Blind Union’s Ukrainian Unity Fund. The fund will disperse money to organisations providing direct support during this terrible time.
During We’re with U, you’ll be able to donate accessibly online using any major credit card or PayPal. For those listening on Internet-capable devices that don’t offer a web browser, we will have a phone number to call where you can leave a message and have someone call you back to take your donation.
We can’t all get together to enjoy this event, but we can tweet up a storm using our hashtag for the event, #BlindWithU. Note, that’s the letter U, for Ukraine. Get a search open for that hashtag on Twitter now as the concert draws ever closer, and engage with fellow listeners when the concert is on.

We have put this concert together in a special spirit of unity and love. Many of us have been following the appalling events in Ukraine, wishing there’re was something we could do, some little difference we could make. This is it.
