A birthday greeting, unfinished business, a tribute and more version comparisons this week on the Early Years!
Affter you've enjoyed Mosen At Large, Mushroom FM's premier opinion show, tomorrow afternoon from 02:00 to 05:00, during which I hope all your questions get answered and all your opinions get heard, don't touch that dial, device, PC, Mac or smart speaker and join me in The Early Years where and when you'll enjoy the best music from Rock and Roll's Golden Age (its first quarter century) with an occasional nod to other decades and genres.
It's the unofficial start to summer in Canada this long Victoria Day holiday weekend and I'll celebrate that with a greeting to a long-time listener and much longer-time friend who celebrates his birthday on Monday, Victoria Day. How convenient that it's a holiday.
I'll follow that with two songs that time didn't permit me to play last week for Nancy's and my 50th wedding anniversary that I think are appropriate for the occasion.
Most of the show will be devoted to a tribute to Lloyd Price who passed away May 3 at the age of 88. He charted 18 songs on the Billboard R&B and Hot 100 charts between 1952 and 1964 and you'll hear them all.
Finally, a couple of version comparisons picking up that theme from two weeks ago. I'm at part 13 and thanks to you, the version comparisons just keep on comin'!
You can contact me any time by email at steve at mushroomfm.com with comments about the show and suggestions for future shows.
So join me, Steve Cutway, in The Early Years, tomorrow afternoon at 05:00, after Mosen At Large and before Dan Sweeney's One Hit Wonders. The show replays Wednesday morning at 07:00 AM after Deep Dive with Graeme Innes and before Anthony Unleashed with Anthony Horvath, only on Mushroom FM, the home of the fun guys, making four decades of magic mushroom memories!
