Woody at Home, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Sara Hillis here to give you the straight goods on this week's episode of Come by the Hills, the Folk and Celtic music show on Mushroom FM. Today, along with yet another collection of great Folk and Celtic tunes, I've got some archival goodies from Woody Guthrie. Just released as "Woody At Home - Vol 1 + 2," they are a collection of tapes that Woody made aroune 1951 for Howie Richmond, his music publisher, and contain demos of a lot of intresting songs. I won't play the whole album, but I will give you a taste of it. What I like about it is that it reveals Woody literally in his house. Sometimes you can hear his kids playing around while he's recording. This was also not too long before he was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease, which gradually removed his ability to speak and to perform music: a loss to the world. I've also got a couple of selections from our other Woody recording we've been journeying through over the summer. So, I hope you'll come along for the ride!

Catch Come by the Hills live from the 7th Floor on Sunday at 8:00 PM Eastern, or check out the replay on Tuesday at 5:00 AM Eastern. And always, have fun and enjoy!
