Send in a contribution for this weekend's Mosen At large. Politics, Apples, Mantises and more

Kia ora Mosen at largers. The coming weekend’s episode of the show typifies why it’s called Mosen At Large. We cover such a wide range of things on this show, from technology to social issues to blindness matters to politics. Hopefully, it’s all presented in a way that makes you think and encourages you to participate.

First on the agenda this week inevitably has to be that election in the United States. As I write this message it is an evolving story, but there are so many things to discuss. If you live in the US and voted, how was the process for you? Did you have to play the role of educator as well as voter so you could cast your ballot accessibly and secretly? Are you surprised by the closeness of the race? In a telling example of how divided the US is, one of our listeners is already asking Trump supporters if they would explain why they voted for him, in an attempt to understand how so many people supported a candidate they find…well…deplorable. If you’re outside the US as I am, how does it all look to you. I will of course share my own thoughts.

There’s plenty of Apple discussion this weekend, by which time I will have decided whether I took the plunge and ordered the 12 Pro Max. If you ordered something new, give us all the deets. The Mini also goes on sale this weekend, and we have the much-anticipated Apple Silicone Macs announced at yet another Apple event next week.

There is plenty of feedback coming in on what some people consider the very poor battery life of the iPhone SE. If you have any experiences to share on this subject, feel free.

We have a really cool demo of some of the new camera features in iOS 14 which you may have missed.

I’m not an Android user myself, but I always enjoy hearing how people are using Android apps and devices. This week, Caroline Toews reviews the Lookout app for Android, which performs a similar function to that of Seeing AI for iOS.

I am typing this little message on an APH Mantis. That’s their new Braille display with a qwerty keyboard, sporting some on-board applications. I’ll take you for an extensive tour and give you my thoughts on the device.

There are plenty of other interesting contributions coming in, so if you’d like to raise something completely different, feel free.

Getting your contributions in ahead of time leaves you free to hear the show, and gives me a chance to organise them all, so go for it. Please don’t be shy, I’d love to hear from you. To contribute, send an email with an audio attachment or just written down to Jonathan at MushroomFM.com, or call the listener line, +18646066736, that’s 1-864-60Mosen.

The best way to hear Mosen At Large is when it airs live and in full on Mushroom FM on Saturdays at 2 PM Eastern, that’s 7 PM in the UK. It will then be available in abridged form on the Mosen At Large podcast, available anywhere you get podcasts.

Thank you so much for listening and contributing to the show, and see you soon for Mosen At Large.
