Paying tribute to Rich Cavallaro, @Richcav, on this week's Mosen Explosion

Having taken a much-needed recharge day away from social media, it was only as I sat down to write a post about this week’s Mosen Explosion that I learned of the death of Rich Cavallaro due to complications relating to pneumonia. He was just 28. To say I’m numbed and shocked to the core doesn’t cover it.

We're on the Ball this Week on Come by the Hills!

No, there are no squares here, with the possible exception of some of the dance tunes. Come by the Hills is back on Sunday night with three hours of amazing Celtic music for your enjoyment. Everything is firmly in its place, all features back where they belong and a whole bunch of great songs to go with them, and of course I'm here as usual with my folky reminiscences and banter about all things Celtic. I just had someone tell me last week that come by the Hills is now firmly established as part of her Sunday night routine, so why not make it part of yours?

Friday Fun is Back Again on The Sara Hillis Show!

Yes, it's that time again, time to dust off the old novelty category in the playlist and feature some fun things to make your Friday fly by. I've decided to feature cops and robbers this week, so in our back-to-back music mixes, we'll have sketches and songs from Stan Freberg, Billy Howard, and The Royal Canadian Air Farce. Plus, we'll have your usual mix of magic mushroom memories which will keep you groovin' on through your day in fine style. So, if you're in the mood for an arresting two hours of fun, check out the Friday Fun edition of The Sara Hillis Show.

Plans for the November 18 Show

This week, November 18, the Snowman spends about 15 minutes demonstrating and commenting on his Sunu Band mobility aid, a new sonar device for locating objects in the environment. This informal segment will air sometime around the bottom of the first hour, which starts at 8PM Eastern on Saturday evening.

We're Cutting Over to canada on this week's A Cuppa at the Mosens

We’re cutting over to Canada for this week’s “A Cuppa at the Mosens” Thursday 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. EST on www.mushroomfm.com and in all your fav music apps.
A few months ago, we started interviewing the folks who make MushroomFM the magical station it is. The first fun guy, or rather fun gal, in the hot seat was Sara Hillis of the Sara Hillis show and Come by the Hills. And on this week’s show, we feature another Canadian, Steve Cutway of “The Early Years”.

We're Honouring Remembrance Day this Week on Come by the Hills!

In honour of those who have made the supreme sacrifice, I have decided to feature several songs on this week's edition of Come by the Hills which relate to the two world wars. We'll have all our usual features including a double dose of "Me Music" featuring my latest musical effort, plus a brand new single by Loreena McKennitt in honour of the hundredth anniversary of the battle of Vimy Ridge, and many more great and thought-provoking songs about what it was like to be involved in these wars.

Who! What! When! Where! Why!

Who: Steve Cutway
What: The Early Years
When: Sunday evening at 6 Eastern and Wednesday morning at 7 Eastern
Where: Mushroom FM
Why: Because the music from the 1950s and 1960s is the best music there is and it gets short shrift on terrestrial radio; but not on Mushroom FM.
The above is 279 characters so would fit the new Twitter limit. But as I point out on tonight's show, I'm not on Twitter.

The Mosen Explosion proudly cranks it all the way up to 280

Sunday Sunday, can’t fault that day, as the old song says or something. The Mosen Explosion is back with four unique hours of music and conversation.

And now, thanks to the generous engineers at Twitter, if your Twitter client has been updated to support it, you have double the expressiveness in every tweet. Imagine that! Twice the nutrients in every mouth-watering byte! So now you can let your voice be heard even more expressively just by way of a humble tweet! This is progress, but here at The Mosen Explosion, we can’t wait until the Twitter character count is set to 2TB.
