1950: Jukebox Rhythm Review, Part 2 this week on The Juke In The Back!

The Juke In The Back” focuses on the “soul that came before rock n’ roll,” the records that inspired Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.
The “Juke In The Back” takes you back 70 years to the biggest jukebox hits of 1950 as we feature another Jukebox Rhythm Review. This week, in part 2, we’ll focus on the top jukebox requests from the second half of 1950. We’ll dig on pianist Lloyd Glenn backing up Lowell Fulson and Fulson returning the favor by backing up Glenn on two huge records. Percy Mayfield scores his first and biggest hit of his career while Nat “King” Cole has a record that tops both the R&B and Pop charts. Louis Jordan, who was the biggest selling R&B artist of the 1940s, begins the ’50s with one of his biggest #1 records, which would unfortunately turn out to be his last time at the top of the charts. So grab some nickels as Matt The Cat loads up the “Juke In The Back” with 78s from the second half of 1950.
