It's all about Jimi, Billy and Buddy tonight on The Depths

Greetings fellow music travelers.

Yesterday, a monumental new box set from Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsys called "Songs for Groovy Children - the Fillmore East concerts was released.

In just two days, Jimi Hendrix, Billy Cox and Buddy Miles laid the groundwork for a whole new style of hard, soulful, psychedelic funk that influenced countless musicians, but up until now, most people have only heard the heavily-edited 45 minutes of material that ended up on the original Band of Gypsys live album.

Tonight on The Depths, we will spend a couple hours together listening to these fully-restored incendiary performances, and I will share lots of stories about the formation of the band, as well as the recording and editing of the original live album.

Then, in the fourth hour, I will tell you all about the night when I met and performed with Buddy Miles, and play a brief snippet from that concert where Buddy and I sing together.

I personally think this will be a special night of songs and stories, and I hope you will think so as well.

It all starts at 11:00 PM Eastern, 8:00 PM Pacific immediately following The Snowman.
