It's an Encore of a Very Special Episode, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Yes, as I am battling a cold this week which is robbing me of focus if not of my voice as yet, I thought I'd take the opportunity to replay a very special episode of Come by the Hills from September 16 of 2018. This was a tribute show dedicated to my friend Shannon Marie Smith, (may her memory be eternal,) who died on that date the year before.

It's St. Patrick's Day, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Yes, it is that time of year again, time to get out the green beer, the corn beef and the cabbage and get a little bit Irish--well, a lot Irish actually. We'll have three hours of Irish music this week on Come by the Hills: music to make you laugh, music to bring a tear to your eye, and likely everything in between.

We're Going Welsh for St. David's Day, this Week on Come by the Hills!

It is indeed that time of year again! We've got two Celtic cultural days in the month of March, and Friday was the first of them, being the feast-day of St. David of Wales! So, before we get to all the green beer and such later this month with that other saint, let's take some time to honour the Welsh culture and especially its language and song this week on Mushroom Fm's premier Celtic music show!

It's Loreena McKennitt's Birthday, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Yes, the middle of February means that it's time once again for our annual Loreena McKennitt special, and seeing as her birthday is on Sunday, it seems only logical to celebrate it in style! Loreena McKennitt is someone who has been a role-model for me in music and in life. She's a very patriotic Canadian and yet, in some ways, is truly a citizen of the world.

It's Burns Night, this Week on Come by the Hills!

As Friday was Robby Burns Day around the world, we at Come by the Hills have decided to hold a virtual Burns Supper tonight. There'll be songs, poetry, and even a virtual haggis! I Just Might be the Lunatic You're Looking For, this Week on Come by the Hills!

No, Billy Joel hasn't gone Celtic or anything, but tomorrow night, there's going to be an interesting lunar event taking place. It's apparently called a Super Blood Wolf Moon, which is to say a full moon which is especially close to the earth and which is also in eclipse and so is red in appearance, and which occurs in January, the Wolf Moon being a name traditionally associated with the full moons of this month.

We're Live Again, this Week on Come by the Hills!

You've waited and waited, putting up with encores and voice-tracked shows and all, and finally, we're ready for the first live show of the new year on Come by the Hills! We'll have all the usual features, great music, and yes, the unpredictability that comes with doing the show live! This is all still new to me, but I enjoy the challenge and I enjoy hanging out with you on a Sunday night as we listen to some amazing Celtic tunes!

It's an Encore Presentation, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Tonight at 8:00 PM Eastern, join me for a celebration of everything that makes New Years great! it's a time to reflect, resolve, and of course do a little imbibing as well. The show won't be live tonight unfortunately, but I'll be hanging out on the Twitter and such throughout the duration of the show while I work and plan and scheme to get ready for the annual New Years gathering which my husband and I (hem hem) host for our friends.

'Tis the Night before the Night before Christmas Celtic-style, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Yes, it's finally come round at last, that season of holly, ivy, mistletoe, merriment, and music of course! So this week, we've got Christmas tunes gallore on Come by the Hills. We've got salutes to some of my favourite folkish festive albums and artists, some Christmas comedy, and our annual reading of "A Child's Christmas in Wales" by Dylan Thomas. We've got carols, snow, and the all-important wassailing of the figgy duff. And no, I don't mean the Newfoundland folk-rock band either.
