It's St. Andrew's Day This Week on Come By The Hills!
November 30th is coming up, and for Scots at home and abroad, this means St. Andrew's Day. He is the apostle who is credited with bringing Christianity to the area of the world we now call Scotland, and so over the years, his day has become a day to celebrate Scottish culture, and with that culture, of course, comes music!
We'll be hearing songs written by the Jacobites and by Robert Burns, and more recently by Dougie McLean and Dick Gaughan. We'll hear from native Scots and from those who claim Scotland as their ancestral home, and we'll also hear Scottish songs sung in their own language of Gaelic.
All the usual features are back, including a bit of a twist for "What's That About?" and a Folk-rock version of a song by The Hollies in "Celtic Covers." So, if your motto is: "If it's not Scottish, it's crap!", then join me this coming Sunday at 8:00 PM Eastern for Come By The Hills, with a replay on the following Friday at 4:00 AM Eastern, 9:00 AM in the UK and Ireland, for three hours of the best in Scottish music from Scotland and around the world!
