Celebrating New Year's Eve this week on The Early Years!

After you've enjoyed the New Year's eve edition of The Variety Vault with Paul Merrell, Wednesday afternoon from 2 to 4 PM, don't touch that dial, device, PC, Mac, smart speaker or tablet and join me for an Early Years New Year's Eve celebration.
When I was growing up, I used to enjoy listening to year-end countdowns on my local radio stations. I'm doing a variation of that theme this week on The Early Years as I will play the #1 songs from 1950 to 1969. First though, I'll play five songs appropriate for New Year's Eve and Day from 1949 to 2006, and I'll finish the show with my favourite New Year's Eve song from 1988.
Looking back to the beginning of the year, I had no idea then that I'd still be with you at the end of the year. As luck would have it, my health improved enough to make that possible after a 3-month hiatus from February to April. I hope that I shall continue being able to entertain you with the best music from the first quarter century of rock with occasional nods to other decades and genres throughout 2026. Thanks so much for listening to The Early Years. I hope you all have a happy New Year however you celebrate it and hope for a happier 2026 worldwide.
