Birthday celebrations and more of "The Great Canadian Setlist" this week on The Early Years!
After you've enjoyed Come By The Hills with Sara Hillis, tomorrow afternoon from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM, all dressed up in her Saturday Clothes, as I will be, don't touch that dial, device, PC, Mac, smart speaker or tablet and join me for The Early Years where and when you'll hear the best music from the first half of the Rock and Roll era with nods to other decades and genres.
At the end of the show two weeks ago, I just scratch the surface of a new theme, the 150 "important" Canadian songs as tabulated by a panel of Canadian newspaper columnists, reporters and editors from the Winnipeg Free Press, for Canada's Sesquicentennial in 2017. I picked up the list last week in 1956 and continued to 1972. One listener commented that there wasn't a bad song on last week's show. I hope he and you feel the same way this week as I skip back four years to 1968 to celebrate the birthdays of two fellow Canadians, Sara hillis and my wife, Nancy. Then I'll return to "the Great Canadian Setlist", picking it up in 1970 and continuing to 1978.
I am a proud Canadian and will promote my country's music every chance I get, similar to what Sara does on "Come By the Hills".
