Revisiting the Kings and Queens Episode from September 10, 2022 and Planning a Tribute to Ian Tyson, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Well, a new year is almost upon us, so in the spirit of reflection on the year that is past, I thought I'd present an encore presentation of the episode featuring songs about Kings and Queens which we did on Come by the Hills to commemorate the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the accession to the throne of King Charles III. Here in Canada, we are still a constitutional monarchy, and, I think it's fair to say that whether you believe in that or not, this was a big change and the end of one era and the beginning of a new one. Many of us grew up with the Queen simply being there through all the changes in the world, and I personally feel that her ideals of duty and service are things that I learned from her. So, I hope you will enjoy this encore presentation!

In other news, I am planning a tribute to Canadian Folk and Country music legend Ian Tyson for sometime in January, as he passed away at the age of 89 this week. I'd love to hear any memories or requests for the show. I will do this as a live show, so it will be a little later on in the month due to some other things I have to do as January gets going. But email anything you'd like to say about Ian or any requests for favourite songs to sara@mushroomfm.com, and I'll gladly include you in the show. You can even send a voice-memo if you'd like. I'll keep you posted here when I firm up the date for it.

I hope you have a very happy new year, and I'll talk to you again next week.

Catch Come by the Hills on Saturday at 2:00 PM Eastern, or check out the replay on Tuesday at 5:00 AM Eastern. However and whenever you listen, I hope you'll enjoy it!
