Paying tribute to Don Everly on the next Mosen Explosion
Once again I am pre-empting the usual Mosen Explosion format to pay a special tribute.
If you’ve listened to the show over the last 20 something years I’ve been on Internet radio, you know that I not just like, but revere the Everly Brothers. They truly were a musical freak of nature. Two voices in perfect sync, in perfect harmony. Long before clever digital production techniques and pitch correction were available, they were the real deal, and they were amazing. Some of their songs were happy sing-along tracks, others were hauntingly beautiful and sad. And let’s not forget, Don Everly was also a brilliant composer, producer and one hell of a rhythm guitarist.
Not only do we have the Everly Brothers to thank for their own music, we thank them for inspiring many other great artists, including the Beatles.
No one lives forever of course, but the death of Don Everly aged 84 has deeply saddened me. I am therefore taking an hour to pay my respects and bring you just a snapshot of the great music that the Everly Brothers produced.
Join me for this special Mosen Explosion tribute to Don Everly on Tuesday at 2 AM or 2 Pm Eastern, 7 AM or 7 PM in the UK. Check the Mushroom FM Schedule to find out when it is on in your time zone.
