On this week's Mosen Explosion, parties and milestones and jingles, oh my!

What do you do when you reach a big, humungonormous, mega milestone birthday, eh? What do you do? Well if you’re Bonnie Mosen, which you’re not of course because otherwise you’d be here living with me, you would have a kids’ party with a custom-designed Game of Thrones cake!

Yes, just a few brief but eventful months after my own similarly milestone-filled birthday, it’s Bonnie’s turn. Shortly after the Mosen Explosion ends, the family will be here to celebrate with a traditional kiwi kids’ birthday at Bonnie’s request. Dude! I get to play the piano again for musical chairs and pass the parcel, just like when the bananas were little. So we will be celebrating a half a century of Bonnie…Is it OK for me to divulge that specific detail…on the show. She can have as many requests on the show as she jolly well wants.

There’s also some fall-out from my own 50th birthday celebration. See, when I was young, I’d listen to the radio, waiting for my favourite songs. When they’d play, I’d sing along…It made me smile. But when I wasn’t listening to the radio waiting for my favourite songs, I was listening to radio airchecks and geeking out over radio jingles.

On my 40th birthday, I splurged out with a major splurgy splurginess and invested in a huuuuuge jingle package for the Mosen Explosion. But I didn’t get my absolute dream jingle. I didn’t get it because I didn’t think it would be possible for it to be recreated, and I didn’t quite know how to make use of it. But I dreamed of this one incredible jingle. So, for my 50th, I decided I would make a jolly good attempt at trying to make it happen. My ultimate, ultimate, radio dream. When it finally came through this week, all recreated to my specifications and sounding exactly as it did in my dreams, I yelled so loud from the studio that Bonnie came down because she was sure I’d hurt myself. Tomorrow, we put it to work. Duuuuuude!
