Danny Miles

So, Who Is Danny Miles?

Hi there. I'm Danny, and I'd like to thank you for visiting my page. I'm honoured to be part of the Mushroom FM team, and I look forward to interacting with you very soon.

As to who I am, I'm possibly the world's most fanatical (and definitely the world's most competitive) blind footballer. I'm proud to represent the London and South-East Blind Centre of Excellence in the DBA National Blind Futsal League, and I'm also the league committee's player representative. Thanks to the support and encouragement of the people closest to me, I'm also the owner of a business called
Ability Gateway
which works to break down physical and psychological barriers which people face in their lives. No two days are ever the same in my work, and nor are any two of my radio shows, so please tune in and find out more.

Living The Dream

I've always had a passion for youth and community radio, having first presented a show on Stevenage-based Lyon FM when I was just 14 years old. I was privileged to work with some fantastic people in the following six years, but I also had the great honour of interviewing a range of people, including a 16-year-old who later took the formula 1 motor racing world by storm ... Lewis Hamilton. But when the set-up closed down in 2006 I found it difficult to access regular broadcasting opportunities ... that is until the advent of internet radio and, with it, the opening of the home of the Fun Guys. It took a while for me to pick up the new technologies associated with internet broadcasting, but eventually I was welcomed into the Shroomosphere, and the rest as they say is history ...

About My Mushroom FM Radio Shows

The Story of Broadcasts Past

I first took to the Mushroom FM airwaves on 7 March 2012, presenting a 2-hour show called the EMPIRE Radio Show which became a fixture every Wednesday between 9am and 11am Eastern. In keeping with the station's values, I'm passionate about playing a diverse range of music and interacting with listeners, and this formed the ethos for my weekly diversion from everyday banality. I've also always honoured these principles when covering shows for other presenters, and they will continue to remain at the heart of everything that I do on Mushroom FM.

What About Now?

Having taken a sabbatical between December 2012 and April 2013, during which time I made significant changes to improve my broadcasting equipment and set-up, I'm delighted to be back on the airwaves with a totally new format of my own and the pleasure of covering shows for other presenters when invited to do so.

The Life Lines Radio Show

The Life Lines Radio Show, which you can hear exclusively on Mushroom FM every Wednesday at 11am Eastern (that's 4pm in the UK), is a 3-hour exploration of the personal experiences and social issues which matter to you, the listener. From the latest news in the worlds of sport, music, literature and cinema to discussions about access technology, current affairs, media and social networking, there's something of interest for everyone. What's more, many shows feature inspirational special guests with a story to tell or a talent to unleash, while there are plenty of opportunities to cover human interest issues like relationships, cultural diversity and equality, physical health and emotional well-being. And, as if that wasn't enough, all of this fresh spoken content is broken up by fantastic music from a wide range of genres - from eighties pop and nineties dance to noughties rock and teenies R&B - and sometimes tracks might even fit seamlessly with the topic of the day.

Staying In Touch

Whether I'm presenting the Life Lines Radio Show or filling in for someone else, I'd love to interact with you and see you participating in the fun. Whether you'd like to make a request, suggest a new idea for a show or feature within a show, start a topic of conversation or give feedback on the quality of my output, it'd be great to hear from you during a show or even in between programmes.
