Farewell to the Mushroom Fm and Mushroom Escape Google actions

Users of Google Assistant products will be aware that for some time, Mushroom FM and Mushroom Escape have offered Google actions. This allowed Google Assistant users to use a phrase like, “Ask Mushroom FM to play” and voila, it would play.

Google has taken the decision to retire these actions from their product line, and our actions along with all others are no longer available.

You can still play Mushroom FM and Mushroom Escape by asking the Google Assistant to play them on TuneIn.

Our Alexa skills continue to rock the world.

On the next Mosen Explosion, there's a new Beatles single coming. There's analysis plus you'll hear what they've been working with

There are times in life when something so impactful happens, you know you’ll always remember exactly where you were and what you were doing. Listening to what I thought was a routine interview with Sir Paul McCartney about Beatles memories, only to have him casually mention that there’s a new Beatles single coming out this year, is one such moment for me.

The Rockumentary goes offshore, starting with "Caroline, Queen of the Pirates"

This weekend in our rockumentary slot, we begin playing a series of documentaries that we’re sure will be fascinating to many of our listeners.

Many of us love the medium of radio, and that’s why we either listen to or participate in Mushroom Fm. There’s something about the connection between broadcaster and listener, and there’s a special something about the music from the decades we feature here on Mushroom FM.

This weekend, join us as we begin the History of Psychedelia

We hope you enjoyed hearing the Elvis Presley Story over the last 13 weeks.

Our rockumentaries continue this weekend with a two parter we haven't aired before.

In the History of Psychedelia, DAVID QUANTICK presents a 2-part documentary examining the changing face of psychedelic music, from the swirling shapes and sounds of the sixties to the retro-pop of the early nineties and today's eclectic dance scene.

You can hear this fascinating, and of course trippy musical history first at 2 PM Eastern on Sunday. It's repeated at 11 PM that evening.

At 2 AM and PM Eastern, join Jonathan Mosen for a tribute to Tina Turner

On Thursday at 2 AM Eastern and repeated again at 2 Pm Eastern, join me for a tribute to Tina Turner, who has died aged 83. Her influence is immense. She paved the way for women in rock and roll. She overcame adversity and abuse to blossom as a solo artist. Most of all, she contributed to the soundtrack of our lives.

Learn about her humble beginnings and the upheaval in her early life, how she met Ike, how she got the name Tina Turner, the perception that she had become a nostalgia act after the couple divorced, and her incredible ascendancy as a solo artist in the 1980s.

Coming up on Saturday at the Described Movies: Scarface and The Three Musketeers.

Scarface is a 1983 American crime drama film directed by Brian De Palma and written by Oliver Stone.

King Charles chooses all the music on the Coronation Eve Mosen Explosion

On Saturday, his majesty King Charles III will be crowned. Regardless of people’s opinions on the relevance of the monarchy in the 21st century, a coronation is an event most of us haven’t experienced before, with the last one having been 70 years ago.

All the music on the next Mosen Explosion has been chosen by King Charles III, taken from the official playlist of the coronation. And it’s quite an eclectic collection which may surprise you in places.

On Wednesday, the Mosen Explosion celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Beatles Please Please me album

It doesn’t seem possible, but we long ago began a series of 60th anniversary milestones for the Beatles, beginning with the 60th anniversary of the day John met Paul in July 2017.

Join Jonathan for a Mosen Explosion George Harrison birthday special

This weekend, I got access to the new Bing. So to give it a bit of a test, I asked it to write this promotional email for me. The rest of this email is written completely and without edits by Bing, powered by Chat GPT.

Are you ready for a blast of music and fun? Tune in to The Mosen Explosion on Mushroom Fm at 2 AM Eastern on Monday, and catch the repeat at 2 PM Eastern on Monday. Your host, Jonathan Mosen, will take you on a musical journey through the life and legacy of one of the greatest singers and songwriters of all time: George Harrison.

In memory of Rich Ring

Today I learned with great sadness of the death of Rich Ring, who was a former broadcaster here on Mushroom FM.
